Joyful Boost: Magical Mindset Tweaks!

Dec 23, 2024

The new year is always a time to reflect, reset, and refocus. While goals and resolutions are important, I’ve realized that lasting change starts with a shift in mindset. This year, I’m committing to three key mindset shifts—ways of thinking that will shape how I approach challenges, growth, and success.

Here’s what I’m leaning into for the year ahead:

  1. Confidence Comes From My Determination to Figure It Out

I used to think confidence was something you either had or didn’t. But here’s the truth: confidence isn’t a prerequisite for taking action; it’s the result of taking action.

When I remind myself that I don’t need to have all the answers right now—that I simply need the determination to figure things out—I feel empowered. Every challenge becomes an opportunity to learn, and every mistake becomes part of the process.

This mindset shift isn’t about being fearless; it’s about trusting my ability to adapt, learn, and grow. It’s about saying, “I don’t know yet, but I’ll figure it out.”

  1. The Who Is the How

This year, I’m embracing the idea that the “how” isn’t always the right question to start with. Instead of asking how do I get the results I desire? I’m asking, who do I need to become to create those results?

Our minds are always searching for direction. By focusing on who I need to become, I shift from chasing steps and strategies to building the foundation within myself. It’s about transformation—becoming a person who can hold space for the results I desire.

For me, this means identifying the qualities, habits, and mindset of the person who has already achieved what I’m working toward. What do they think? How do they act? What choices do they make? Then I start practicing being that person today.

When I focus on who I’m becoming, the “how” often reveals itself naturally. The journey transforms from a list of tasks to an expansive process of growth and alignment with my goals.

  1. I Practice the New Path Until It Becomes Me

Change isn’t about flipping a switch; it’s about carving a new path, one step at a time. This year, I’m focusing on practice.

Whatever I want to become—more disciplined, more confident, more organized—I know it starts with small, consistent actions. Every time I practice the new behavior, I’m reinforcing that path in my brain, like forging a trail in the woods.

It’s not about perfection; it’s about repetition. I remind myself that every time I show up for the new path, I’m becoming that person. Eventually, the new path isn’t something I do—it’s who I am.

Embracing These Mindset Shifts

These three shifts—trusting my determination, leaning into the “who,” and committing to practice—are my focus for the new year. They aren’t just strategies; they’re ways of seeing the world that empower me to grow and thrive.

The beauty of a mindset shift is that it doesn’t require the perfect plan or a dramatic change. It starts with small, intentional choices. This year, I’m determined to approach life with curiosity, connection, and persistence.

What mindset shifts are you adopting in the new year? Let’s grow together.
